I've got no strings!

This week the Diva challenges us to create without starting with a string. Since I had just been working on organic tangles I thought I'd try that again. I also wanted to try out a number of tangles that I had seen on the internet and added to my files. I had not used several of them in my pieces before now so this was a good chance to try them out.

This was done on a Strathmore watercolor card using 140 lb watercolor paper. I used an 05 Sakura Micron pen so it would fill in better on the bumpy watercolor paper.

As I was doing this I kept thinking of the song from Pinocchio. Now I've got that song running through my head!

I’ve got no strings
To hold me down
To make me fret
Or make me frown
I had strings
But now I’m free
There are no strings on me
Hi o the merio, that's
the only way to be!
I want the world to know
notin' ever worries me

I’ve got no strings so I have fun
I’m not tied up to anyone
They've got strings but
you can see there are no strings
on me!

  5. A picture is worth a thousand words, they say, but when a poem is added, it becomes worth a million words!

  6. What a beautiful collection of Tangles 'without a string'. You always create such amazing tangling work. It's funny that you thought of the Pinocchio song, because when I read your title 'I've got no strings@ on my blogger dashboard, the same song popped into my head too, and that was before I'd even clicked onto your blog. Thanks for sharing more of you delightful designs.
    Warmest best wishes,

  9. Love your ZIA! I did the challenge, too, and it was harder than I thought it would be. Love that you didn't fill up the tile completely - white space is good!

  10. Sue, I like the variety of tangles you put in your design, some I am not familiar with. Your placement is interesting to look at too.

  11. I like that it still holds together even with a lot of variety, which is one of the things I find so remarkable about Zentangle.

  12. I'm with Mary. I love the way so many tangles work so well together here. Your design is beautiful, and the white space highlights it so well.
