The latest newsletter from Zentangle.com gives the step outs for both Rick's and Maria's version of Flux. I put it into the center of this Zendala. I surrounded it with my tangle, Ditto. Ditto uses a similiar shape to Flux. The directions for Ditto can be found on my blog here and also in a YouTube video shown below that I made a while back.
Sue I love your pattern Ditto and use it quite a bit on borders. Love your tile with Ditto and Flux!
ReplyDeleteThis looks incredible with your Ditto
ReplyDeleteLike the ring effect created with your shading of Ditto. These patterns are different enough that they really do compliment each other.
ReplyDeleteI love the combination of these two tangles. Great tile.
ReplyDeleteIndeed a great combo flux and ditto. They are born to be together in your zendala. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThey are great together!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know I am a great Ditto fan! I resisted the temptation with this Challenge but you are quite right - they go together so well. Love how you effortlessly make a circle with yours here. Axxx
ReplyDeleteLovely Flux and Ditto
ReplyDeleteyay ditto! I have a few pages in my sketchbook, playing with that one. Such a fun tangle. the unity that comes from using this tear drop shape, in the more gridlike structure of ditto, and in the free hand style of Flux. Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteA very nice combo!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful combination of Flux en Ditto!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that you used Flux in a ring, because I did too! Great minds think alike;)
ReplyDeleteI have not seen Ditto before, but I love it! I just learned Lokomotive for the That's New To Me "L" challenge, and the layout is similar. Ditto is like a cross between that and Flux - cool! I love your tile with Flux and Ditto - one freeform and one more structured. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny...I just commented on someone else's blog that their rendering reminded me of tole painting classes years ago and doing comma strokes and how the teacher stressed "praciticing" . Pattern and design have been with us for centuries...really interesting to see people's pictures of their travels with ceramic tiles and Moorish influences. I love your tile and how you have combined the two tangles in the round, really well done!
ReplyDeleteWell, if ever you wanted evidence that Less is More, here it is. Just the two patterns, similar and yet different and some expert shading. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful application, Sue, of both Flux and your Ditto pattern.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tile using these two similar yet different patterns. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in combination with your Ditto.
ReplyDeleteLove the combo and the tangle you designed! Your shading is fantastic. I tackled this with a Zendala this week too--it seems to lend itself to that nicely!
