Betweed is the tangle pattern suggested by the Diva Challenge this week. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I started thinking about a star so that prompted me to pick the colored tile but after I started the tile just went its own way. I'm pleased with it anyway. I used two different gel pens that have different thicknesses so I was able to vary the effects. I then shaded with a colored pencil.
I tried the audio meditations too. I'm not sure that they were 'my thing'. I'm going to go against the grain here and say that for me, the meditative aspect comes when I do it in my own way and I don't try to follow the meditation process. I suppose that comes from my background in decorative painting as many other CZTs come from backgrounds that include yoga and other meditative aspects. In any case, I think it's all good and we can take from Zentangle what works for us.
I love the colour on the Betweed tile, very gentle but with depth. Very nice. I'm with you on the meditation thing but, like you, I gave it a go and enjoyed it more than I expected. It's all experience.
ReplyDeleteLove all of them!
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tiles! Your Betweed tile using the white on purplish-blue is stunning! Thanks for giving the audio meditations a try as well. Your tiles are lovely!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous the first tile with BETWEED. The two other are beutiful too.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful Betweed, Sue and whilst I enjoyed the process of listening and drawing, I do know what you mean. What I like is to see the end results and how we have all done something slightly different with the same instructions. Axxx
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about the meditative state, Sue. I LOVE the first tile and the soft color. The others are (of course) beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteWhew. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble following directions to achieve Zenity (??). Like you, I do find myself calmer when I do my own thing, but using Zentangle principles. I like the result you achieved using color----very soft and---well, for lack of a better term---Zenlike.
ReplyDeleteLovely lavender tile, so subtle. I agree, I think we all take from Zentangle the bits that are good for us.
ReplyDeleteThe audio isn't for everyone, but it is interesting to try, and interesting to read about what people did or didn't like, and what they heard differently than others! I like your blue tile with the gel pens, but LOVE your Nipa with the larger circles!
